Most of area had 4-6" of fresh snow on top of hardened wind layer, sunny aspects were very hard early, softened by 11am in the alpine. Crown Profile of Gash avalanche (http://avalanche.state.co.us/caic/obs/obs_report.php?obs_id=45504): See attached pics, very evident surface hoar layer 30cm below surface that the avalanche last sunday started on. Stability test showed positive results on that layer (ECT19P, 30cm down, popped out). Was not able to observe SH layer in any other locations due to time.
