Weather

Overcast with increasing low clouds, warm, with light snow, and non existent winds above treeline.

Snowpack

The snow depth below the ridge in the trees was 180 cms. The snow above treeline was 225 cms in the snow pit on a SE aspect at 12,000'. Foot pen was 75 cms and ski pen was 35 cms. 2 Compression tests and both failed at 17 and 18 taps, Q2. A ECT was done and no failure was noted. No evidence of the surface hoar layer was noted in the snow pit but the CT failures were both 65 cms below the surface on the same layer... maybe this was the surface hoar layer? No instabilities were noted on the climb or descent. Numerous slides from the Saturday the 14 especially in the Eureka area.
