Wild Boy Pond, 11,080 ft WNW. Overcast to Obscured all day. S2-S4 all day. Mod to severe winds out of West, but we were in a funky little bowl. Significant accumulation of approx 5-6 CM at our site during the 2.4 hours we were there.
Snowpack
Wild Boy Pond Avg HS 135. Multiple PSTs and ECTs all indicating propagation on W-NW slopes. Tests were done on 20 degree slopes near trees (unfortunately) because we could not safely get into more significant terrain. PST 40/100 SF @ 51 CM down PST 17/100 END at 51 CM down. PST 48/100 END @ 91 down. ECT-P 7 @ 32 CM down at new snow interface. ECT- P1@ 37 down at new snow interface. ECT P V @ %% CM down. ECT -P16@40 CM down. All on 20 degree WNW slope below tree line at 11,080 ft. Significant shooting cracks 3-5 feet off of skis when crossing meadow picture below. Snow near lookers right side of pictures below, near tree "fence" not nearly as concessive. Moving further north/ lookers left of pic into the open snow gained significant cohesion.
Avalanche
multiple naturals observed in the small Wild Boy Pond region. Two R3D1.5 near cliff bands and sparse trees. Third was closer to R3D2. Significant cracking and whumfping in the flats bellow slopes as well as on small test slopes. I attached two pictures of the same zone from last year to show perspective.
