Snow depth 178 cm location was same as above ground was rock with small layer of ice above this was four finger hardness to 40 cm 3mm plus crystals 41 to 61 fist hardness 62cm layer old surface hoar large feathers 1 to 2 cm 61 to 110 fist hardness 1mm crystals 110-112 four finger layer (old layer before our week of heavy snow) 112-152 four finger 152 to surface fist all stellar crystals compression test at 21 a C1 failure at the 110 cm level not really much propagation next failure after 27 another C1 at 50 cm
