Weather
The weather was cool and sunny when we left the car at 10am. By 11 it was cloudy and snowing lightly. Upon retuning to the car it was clear the snow was isolated to rabbit ears pass range and steamboat and the valley were sunny.
Snowpack
Snowpack Description: The crust which formed last weekend was quite obvious on south facing slopes. It was thin and easily breakable and buried under probably 18-20 inches of new snow. The Tour up the north facing slope showed no signs of instability. Skied 35-40 degree convex roll overs on the N facing slope with no activity other than some small sluffs. The snow was so light and fluffy that establishing the skin track was difficult (we kept sliding backwards on slopes that were not steep). It was worth it.
