Fun in the Sun at Harvey today. Lots of folk about. Lodgepole + Harvey roads not plowed, but passable. -10 c at ridgeline (2,240m) at 2pm with Moderate Southwest wind. Light snow transport, but wind-slab only evident right at ridgeline. 130cm snowpack depth (HS) at 2,000m. Thin suncrust 25cm down on South aspect. Pack generally unconsolidated, some slightly denser layers could be felt by probing. No avalanche activity observed. No results ski cutting or with hand tests to 50cms. Surface hoar forming in sheltered areas and non-sunny areas. Definitely an “early season hazard” day! Photos show: surface hoar, wind affected snow, ridgeline wind transport .... and rammed parking area!
