Retreated From Climb Because Of

Near miss at the base of The Theft ice climb in Bridge River. A size 3 wet loose overshot our party of 3. Two members were at the base belaying and the slide dropped for approximately 30seconds as close as 10m away. 1 member got hit with a branch to the tush tush. Mistake was made by relying on word of mouth and visual inspection of what seemed like a conservative, no overhead hazard route (thick trees with no visible snow slope above). In hinsight, we should have also reviewed the topo for the overhead which is quite steep.
