Today we skied Little Sand and saw no new avalanches. 5 cm of overnight new snow brought snowpack depth to 2 metres. The new snow sits on top of a very thin breakable crust. the Dec 6th surface hoar (SH) layer was found on all aspects, 1 metre down. We got no results on an extended column test (ECTN) and hard results on a compression test (CTH) on that interface. The snowpack is moist at ground. It was 2 degrees at the staging area and -5 at 2000 m. Winds were calm. If you like sledding on endless deep whoops, get to Pow Cow quickly before the road gets groomed!
