Skied Mt Rhondda yesterday, 6:32hr car to car. Around 1200m, 26km. Excellent overnight freeze, -9 at the car. Can still navigate the gravel flats with skis on, but hardly. Canyon coverage is excellent. Wapta saw 15cm of fresh + clear cold skis which made heavy surface facets & provided stellar riding conditions. Skin track took a bit more effort to punch, though. The new snow has concealed some previously obvious sags, be cautious. Some recent avalanche activity, see av tab.

Avalanche

Impressive sz 3-3.5 slab ripped off an unsupported lee slope on Vulture. Appeared to be relatively recent as the crown was not filled in by the new snow. I could be wrong, however. See photo 3. Small isolated windslabs w cornice triggered events occurred recently off Thompson. Wet loose up to sz 2 on S features.
