Evening Ridge near Whitewater

Cold start to the day (-17 in the valley bottom). In the sun, on sunny aspects up high, it warmed up enough to start melting snow on the trees and to form a sun crust on steep south slopes. The snow on shaded aspects was very dry. We had no results with our snowpack tests and it appear that the facets around the mid-December layers (down 50cm) are gaining strength. Still tricky ridding the lower elevations - lots of shallow snowpack hazards.
