We went to the west side of the Lizard Range with a plan to sled into the alpine to see how far up the current melt-freeze crust extends. And, we didn't make it. Icy roads, low snow and open creek crossings resulted in the usual access routes not being a go. Treeline looked below threshold and the alpine looked thin. The temperature was above 0 and it drizzled on and off. There is snow in the forecast though!!!!
