Snowpit dug at 2360m on sheltered west facing treeline aspect HS 95 Top 25cm, Fist resistance 0.5mm facets, Layer of surface hoar 2-3mm observed at 70cm from ground, producing CTE 4 & 5 resistant planer failures 4F resistance facets sz 1-2mm down to 40cm Crust at 39cm 1F resistance down to 23cm F resistance 3mm Depth hoar at base We turned around at the top of treeline, but noticed some windslab forming in the alpine. No WSL noted at treeline or below.
