Bonney Moraine and Ross Couloir Avalanche

Great day of skiing Bonney Moraine. We witnessed a D2.5 avalanche in the Ross Couloir slide path on the exit - see avalanche comments for more details.

At approximately 16:09, while exiting the Bonney Moraine area via the standard exit route, we witnessed a natural D2.5 avalanche come down the slide path below the Ross Couloir/Ross SE Couloir. The start zone was in the clouds at the time, so we were unable to see the crown location or size (or even exactly where the avalanche started) however the debris pile came all the way down to the valley floor, covering several tracks from skiers who had bypassed the Elephants Trunk by staying skier's left of the drainage, having run at least 400-600 vertical meters. We were happy to be safely in the trees at the time, and a good reminder to not get complacent on days with increasing hazard.
