Dug a pit on a north east aspect right below motel 66, snow depth 3.4m. Dug about 2m deep. A weaker layer was sitting about 40cm from the surface and could easily be punched, this layer was not reactive to a column test. Remaining snowpack seemed very well bonded. Noticed strong sun effect on a south west facing slope at around 3pm at 2000m elevation.
