We tried to do a mellow circuit up the SE ridge of Sub observation, then down the backside and around to the Cirque / Sub Ops col, but the conditions were too spicy to complete the route. I have done the route numbers times, and even though we chose the mellowest route, we still had to turn back. We had numerous settlements low on the SE ridge, and then eventually, skier remoted a size 2 on the PWL. We were able to continue but eventually turned around as we didn't want to ascend the final crux slope below the narrow upper ridge; we were worried we would remote the whole west face, which could have traveled far down into where other skiers may have been touring. It is spicy out there... and it will continue to be like that for a loooong time. Keep it simple until we eventually get into late spring conditions and, hopefully, a better spring-thaw cycle. Avalanche Canada MIN site is all messed ups and wont let the proper Details be entered. Skier remote was from 20-30m away, at 2400m, South aspect. 35 degrees. Slab was 40-50cm Deep, 100 wide, 100 long
