Went for a quick Lap up to Video Peak. -19C at 10:30 MST in the info centre lot and inversion temps on top of Video were -2 at 14:00. Skiing down we dug test pit in Hospital bowl to see what this season PWLs were looking like. HS 200. 2200m, SE aspect, 10 degrees, Clear, Calm, -5.0C, Dec 27 layer down 30, Dec 15 layer down 51 and Nov Crust complex down 81. Test results: CTH 21 (B) down 30 on Facets. ECTX; PST 85/100 End Down 51 on Dec 15 Hoar/Facets; PST 95/100 End down 81 on Crust complex interbedded facets. Overall the skiing on Video was great with low density pow even with the inversion warming temps we observed above 2000m. Surprisingly when we got to the peak as late as we did only one party had skiied it before us and only 12 tracks from the day before. We did not notice any significant LD sluffing or other signs of instability up high and observed and ski felt little to no wind effect. Of particular note, and as well observed in some of today's Hazard warnings, in an elevation band between 1600 to 1900 m on descent, we did observe widespread whomphing and cranking in the TL elevation bands (moving on the Dec 15 interface - keep this in the back of your mind with future snowfalls and wind loading). One additional note, while we were skiing out, a -smallish- slide LW slide from frequent flyer had come down and crossed the uptrack (Class 1.5-2), that was not there in the morning, (assumed to have been caused by the daytime inversion warming.)
