170cm down to base. Storm slab was 50cms. Couple cms of fresh snow on top of a wind crust followed by the larger storm slab of about 50cms. The strong layer underneath the storm slab was basically a few cms of hard ice. Variable snow due to the amount of wind we received the previous days. Storm slab didn’t show any failure till shovel tap #21. The column was strong. Cornices had dropped off Reads tower into the bowl below. Didn’t see any avalanche runout or propagation. Just cornice material. We skied the bowl below Reads Tower. Didn’t observe any whoofing or any potential avalanche risk up or down. The variable snow made for an okay descent. One sec you’d be on powder the next you’d be on wind crust. Be careful, lots of wind loaded pockets out there.
