Avalanche close to Paddy's

The day was overcast, warm, with periods of OK visibility. We had to wait a bit before our runs to be able to see. The snow quality varied depending on the aspect. The day was warm, with temps above 0. Snow pack felt heavier and is close to becoming isothermic, mostly at lower elevation. While climbing on a NNE aspect, I heard a whumph, which I initially interpreted as a settlement of the snow. There was no shooting crack visible. It ended up being the avalanche starting. We were on a 25-30 degree rib and we did not see the avalanche until we were a bit higher on the ridge. We skied down towards it and notice a long shooting crack coming from well below the whumph location. This crack connected with the crown and was going straight up (not from where I was). Since the slope seemed safe, we went to investigate. There was about 2m of snow deposit at the bottom. Nobody got caught. We think it slid on depth hoar. The crown varied between 25cm to 75cm at the top.
