Weather

Strong winds on high peaks in the morning. Clear skies with a few clouds filtering in through the day. Winds were generally light and temperatures warm!

Snowpack

10 inches of settled snow on northerly aspects above the buried crust and facet combination that CAIC forecasters have been tracking. I saw about 20 small natural loose wet avalanches that likely occurred yesterday during my drive up the canyon. I saw one significant avalanche on an east-facing slope near treeline up Echo Canyon on the north side of Highway 82. The avalanche looked to have failed initially in near the surface before subsequently stepping down to weak snow near the ground. I was unable to see the track or debris pile. (Photo attached) All but high elevation, due north facing slopes were effected by the warm temperatures today.
