Weather
Today the weather was calm to light winds, clear skies, warmer temperatures, and lots of sun. The storm from Sunday night put 4-6 inches on the ground in the Clark Peak/Ruby Jewel area.
Snowpack
HS varies as you move higher into the terrain. HS at Jewel Lake was around 200-250cm with thinner areas of 160-200cm. On W-SE aspects there is a melt/freeze crust with some faceting below it. The near surface facets from late Jan/early Feb were around 30-40cm below the surface on north through easterly aspects. Did not dig or perform any column tests.
Avalanche
A separate party reported a skier triggered avalanche below tree line, on a north aspect around 10,800ft on a steep slope approximately 35-40 degrees in the area sometimes called Lynx Chutes (steep terrain directly east of the Yurts). They may choose to report this separately. We observed several wet loose avalanches from recent warming on south aspects above treeline (pictured). After the sun/mon storm there was some loose dry sloughing coming out of west facing ATL terrain. Several large and unsettling whumphs were observed on the S/SE aspect off Jewel Lake - failing on crust.
