notes from a couple days out wandering around Lots of signs of wind. The upper snowpack was a mix of powder in protected areas/trees, wind pressed and firm in open areas, thick crust on open SW aspects. a variety of results on hand shears, including clean shear down 10cm on a protected slope. some thick crusts with facets down 30cm+ on open slopes with moderate to hard brakes. snow is better in protected area.
