Weather
Southerly winds at moderate speeds in AM gave way to light winds in the afternoon. 2-3 inches of new snow observed throughout the day for near and below treeline.
Snowpack
we observed little signs of new wind slab formation in NTL/BTL zones. some wind skins were developing on small isolated test slopes but were non-reactive. In the run Oh Boy we probed and found average snow depths from 2 to 2.5m deep. There was a noticeable weak layer in the bottom 10cm of the snowpack based on probing. The rest of the snowpack felt generally uniform.
Avalanche
Around 1:30 pm during a clearing of the skies we noticed a crown on a North aspect ATL in US Basin. Approx D2 with an unknown trigger. Appeared to be on a steep, thinly covered slope and was an isolated event. I tried to get a photo but the light was too poor.
