Consolidated old wind affected snowpack. Localized wind slab
Avalanche
R1, D1, hard slab. 12m 20cm crown. Ran 150m slow moving. While skinning low on the apron the snow was loose and 10cm ski penetration. On the middle of the apron the snow stiffened enough that we used ski edges while skinning and our skis did not penetrate into the snow pack. It slowly fractured around both skier 1 and skier 2 roughly five meters above both skiers. Avalanche was slow moving and both skiers were able to ski out. Both skiers skied down from the apron and did not continue up the couloir.
