Weather

Calm and warm at pass level. Periods of S-1 snow showers till about 10:00am.

Snowpack

A tr" of snow fell in the gorge overnight and 4" measured at the top RMP. On 550 south only 2"-3". The paths of most concern are steep, face north or east and run directly onto the road. Digging on slopes just above the road I observed the ground was warm and long column tests failed on a mid-pack weaklayer. This was not the case when I dug toward the top of the paths where weak snow sits above the ground and tests fail on that layer. The snowpack on slopes below treeline in general is weak and fist hard. With a large load and periods of high PI avalanche danger will rise.
