Weather

Cloudy, cold, windy, and snowy. It actually felt like winter again! Light snow fell most of the day with accumulations around 6". Light to moderate westerly winds were re-distributing the new snow in open terrain near and above treeline.

Snowpack

Below treeline the new snow is falling on a fully faceted snowpack. Average depth of the old snow is around 35-40cm. No signs of insatiability were observed. Higher up as we crested out of the trees, westerly winds were forming soft drifts behind ridges and leeward features. Because of the lighter wind speeds, these newly formed drifted slabs lacked strong cohesion, but are burying a thick layer of weak facets. See attached profile and video for more information.
