Weather
Mostly cloudy, some snow showers later
Snowpack
2-3 feet of thick, new snow, no signs of instability where we skied, but other than one short section, we stuck to slopes under 30 degrees in the trees.
Avalanche
We could see an obvious crown from a recent slide a few miles away from Brainard Lake. Slope was East facing, above treeline, steep with some cliffs but short, and wind loading was apparent. The crown was diagonal across the slope, with the upper end at one of the rock outcroppings.
