Overcast with no precip to star the day. Snow started around noon with times of two inches per hour by the time I left at around 4 PM.
Snowpack
No signs of instability were observed. I walked near steep near treeline slopes and didn't see any signs of recent avalanche activity. Looking across Pitkin Creek, I also did not observe any recent avalanches, though the light was flat, so uncertainty is high as far as avalanche activity. I dug on east below treeline, east near treeline, and west near treeline and found similar results in each pit. I had trouble identifying the December 9th layer and where I dug deep enough to test it, I did not get propagating results. In the storm snow, I did not get any propagating results. The storm snow has settled into a right-side-up slab with fist-hard snow progressively harder with depth to one-finger hard snow above the crust buried on Feb 8th. There were no signs of instability or concerning test results in the storm snow.
