Northern San Juan

Weather
Clear and warm, too warm on E-S slopes, light winds coming from W through E with some snow transport off of peaks.
Snowpack
Sastrugi forming on N through E NTL and ATL. A 5-10cm breakable wind crust on N-E slopes above 12,000 feet. Lots of roller balls on E slopes.
Avalanche
We saw a natural Size 1.5 avalanche, 20cmx25m running 100m, on a SE facing slope in Lower Commodore near Barstow Mine. I suspect it was the storm snow from the last several days, sliding on a melt freeze crust, due to todays warmth and sun.
