8" of new snow this morning with 0.8" of water content at the CAIC Snow Study Plot. Cloudy skies with periods of light snow. Snowfall eased as the afternoon progressed. Temperatures in the mid teens to mid 20s. Winds were calm and no evidence of blowing snow. At 1400, 1" of additional snow at the Study Plot.
Snowpack
Signs of instability were found on northerly aspects near and below treeline today. Several storm slabs were easily triggered on the new snow/old snow interface near treeline and on deeper buried surface hoar formed several weeks ago below treeline.
