Weather
Intermittent snow showers throughout the morning with little to no accumulation. In the afternoon mostly cloudy skies with moments of sunshine. Calm winds and temperatures above freezing at pass level.
Snowpack
Over 20" of snow has been measured along South 550 in the past 4 days. The West Lime base stake has risen over a foot. It has been snowy for the most part, but today the sun popped the snow along the highway corridor quickly started to settle and rollerballs/pinwheels were widespread. Digging in West Lime the new snow is sitting on a snowpack that is deep into the spring transition. This of course, is only at an elevation under 10k. The new snow fell on a 2 crust facet combos, but bonded well. Below the 5-15 cm crust a very weak and fragile snowpack consisting on large wet grains was observed below. Though the snowpack is wet I did not observe percolation columns in my pit. Extended Column tests produced hard failures in the wet grains, but the fracture plan was broken.
Avalanche
Lots of Loose Wet activity observed in steep sunny rocky slopes in the alpine and on steep low elevation slopes. From what I could see none were larger then a D1.
