Weather

Warm, cloud cover down to 11,000’ at the start but clearing by noon, then light snow up high. Strong southerly winds at 9300’, the gust would easily blow the snow when shoveling out for the snow pit,

Snowpack

At 9300’ on a east aspect dug a pit. HS 75cm, 20cm down is a sun crust. The bottom 10 cm is fist hardness, depth hoar 3-4 mm in size. The top 10 cm is new snow with 4 finger hardness. Other then the sun crust, the middle of the snow pack is 4 finger hardness with 1-2mm facets in the early stages of rounding. A ECT test failed on 12 taps no propagation, after 13 taps the snow just crushed. A CT test failed on 14 taps at the bottom.
