The profile was dug in the Northwoods, a permanently closed portion of the Snowmass Ski Area with no previous compaction or manipulation of the snow. 10,960' on a north aspect. The overall height of snow was 78cm. At the ground, an ice crust layer several centimeters thick is covered by 10 centimeters of 6mm depth hoar, and another 30 centimeters of 3-4 mm facets. There is the remnants of a crust at 15 centimeters from the ground but is faceted and not reactive. There is a bump in hardness at 45 centimeters from the ground from fist to four fingers. This layer is comprised of 2 mm facets. At 58 centimeters from the ground, the hardness drops down to fist again with 1mm facets to the top. ECT19 50 cm CT20 RP 48 cm CT18 RP 45 cm
