Snowpack

The snow depth was roughly 1 meter at 10600' on the north side of Grand Mesa. The persistent weak layer of concern was in the mid-pack down about 30-50cms and composed of large-grained surface hoar (8-10mm). This layer was present in west-facing slopes as well as north-facing slopes on micro-terrain features near the Skyway Weather Station. The depth hoar around this area is composed of 4mm crystals that extend 15 to 20cm from the ground.
