Warm and calm morning, no snow in trees. coming out of a 2 week high and dry cycle. Snow in forecast.
Snowpack
Overall the snowpack was not supportive to skis, with very little dense snow throughout. Unfortunately I found buried surface hoar (suspecting from 12/6 event) that the wind did not break up before it was buried. The lower snow pack has faceted crystals more developed then I expected, with depth hoar crystals up to 4mm. I was surprised to find that some snow mid pack was slightly moist and packed together in my hands. I did not perform any snow pack testing or take any temperatures.
Avalanche
None in area. Broken cornice debris on easterly aspect, did not cause avalanching.
