Varied wind with heavy gusts occasionally, cloudy, persistent snow, cold temps in the 20F
Snowpack
2-3 inches of accumulated snow at the trailhead, 6+ over slight crust at the ridge, crust most prevalent on southern open exposure but slightly noticeable thoughtout the north facing chute, crust not present in the dense trees on the way up, no whoomphing or obvious signs of instability on the assent
Avalanche
Noted in the images. Many wind slabs broke in the smaller terrain features. 4 on the edges of the line and 2 nearer the gut of the line, largest was a sluff from the top, soft slab point release that tried to break more cohesively and ran R3/D1, the rest were smaller R1/D.5 but were consequential due to the terrain. Note this line was on a triple point of the Forcast zones and seemed to not accurately reflect any zone. I think this might be due to the location withing Tenmile canyon, getting more snow and wind than we expected and as was described in the description. Not a fault of the forecast, but not cluing into changing conditions that were different than expected.
