Clear, Cold 10-15 degrees, light wind, some gusty winds on the peaks
Snowpack
South aspects near the pass are mostly recent snow from this month and shallow. Northerly aspects BTL with out wind loading snow depth increased with elevation and averaged 80-100cms. At tree line where wind loading had occurred the depth was 160-180 cms. The bottom third of the snow pack is very weak facets, with a 4 finger to 1 finger slab on top. CT 20 clean break at the slab/facet interface. CT 23 clean break in the middle of the faceted snow. ECT 26 clean break in the middle of the faceted snow. Overall appearance is very weak. It would be possible to ski a suspect slope but the consequece of a slide would involve the entire seasons snow.
Avalanche
A medium sized cornice had recently broken and caused the most recent storm snow to sluff but did not step down.
