Snowpack

Dug a quick hand pit at TL in area of the Battleship that ran naturally in Feb. Snowpack was only 70 cm deep. Top 25cm was new snow with the dust at the bottom of that. The dusty interface between old snow and new had a 2cm layer of facets on it already. The old snow was a pencil hard slab that soften to 1F deeper in the pack. CT's failed Q1 all with less than 10 taps. This layer is very worthy of watching to see if it improves with the warm up or remains as is or becomes a initial failure layer as water starts moving through snowpack . As it is, it will be a fantastic weak layer/bed surface combo, but fortunately there is little load on it currently. Depth hoar layer was not as significant here due to the large natural event that apparently took most of it.
