Approximately 18" of heavy powder on top of an icy weak layer where the avalanche broke.

Avalanche

North facing aspect @ 11,000' below treeline. Skier triggered avalanche with ~18" crown that broke ~50' wide and slid ~ 50 yds before settling out. Broke at an icy weak layer. Skier triggered avalanche from 50 yds below and was unaware that avalanche occurred. Skier stopped in safe location.
