At 5:30a @ 10,240ft skies were clear, calm wind, Air Temp 0.5°C, Boot Pen 0cm, surface form was frozen Melt Freeze. Later in the AM thin clouds increased and moderate wind gusts came from SW then NW. Skies cleared by afternoon.
Snowpack
Overnight freeze was better at Ridgway Hut than night prior, despite warmer air temperatures. Below treeline, surfaces broke down quickly and became unsupportive by 11:00 on all aspects. Significant melting and loss of HS at low elevation. Large sections of bare ground melted out in the past 2 days in sun exposed terrain below 9,500ft. No avalanche activity observed on NW-N-E.
