Steamboat Lake State Parks Avalanche Course ยท Feb 6, 2017

Weather

Broken skies and warm during the morning with moderate winds. Snowfall started around 2 PM and ended around 5 PM with about 2" accumulation of very dense snow. Heavy snow currently S3 at 7 pm.

Snowpack

Minor cracking around snowmobile skis in new snow. The new snow was very slabby and was not bonding well to dryer snow beneath.

Avalanche

We did not travel in avalanche terrain and did not see any recent avalanches.
