Weather
9000-11000ft southeast to northeast aspects- very heavy snowfall in the last 48hrs. Over 20" above 10000' yeasterday the 20th, followed by over 18" from Friday afternoon to 11am saturday. Low mosture content. Snowing heavily, but wind is not as high as predicted- however snowfall in the La Platas is much higher than other areas within the south san jaun zone.
Avalanche
Widespread cracking and collapsing Saturday morning, resulting in long crack propagation. Some natural activity even within somewhat lower angle dense trees. No long running avalanches yet, but a natural SS cycle is highly probable and occuring. Any collapsing resulting in movement this morning was only within the 48hr snowpack, and most I observed were breaking on a layer between yesterday's snow and today's.
