Snowpack
Toured in the Ruby Range mid day. Winds were keeping the snow surface cool above 11,500ft on a southerly aspect. The temperature crust was about 2†thick and breakable with cold/dry snow below. Winds at ridge line were westerly and steady at moderate. Observed an old natural cornice fall on MT Owen's northeasterly aspect that only released surface snow. There was active loose wet avalanching on the same aspect around mid day. Skied a steep northeasterly slope with no other signs of instability other then sloughing.
