Weather

9500 ft above bear lake. No wind. Snowing fairly heavy S-1 and got lighter in the afternoon. Cloudy and overcast most of the day. Warming towards the end of the day. Visibility poor.

Snowpack

20 cm new snow with poor bonding sliding easily on a sunaffected crust layer. Crust found on NE through to South face crust was thicker on South aspect. Strong 1 finger/pencil midpack with facets at the bottom of the pack. NE snow depth 210cm S aspect snow depth 160cm. A weak layer was noticed on an East aspect between two crusts.

Avalanche

Loose dry avalanches on steeper terrain on a variety of aspects. Steep test slopes were reactive.
