Calm with blue skies

Snowpack

Overall snowpack was cohesive and non reactive. Small sluff slides were common on steep slops N and NE in the top 20cm. There was some wind transport but no significant changes in the snowpack were observed from 1/14/16 through 1/18/16.

Avalanche

We did observe an avalanche in the Gibbs Creek area off the N face of peak 1. The avalanche broke at the base of a small tree band on a slope of 40 degrees (R2 D1). True to the forecast shallower areas of snow pack were the likely trigger points for larger avalanches.
