Snowpack

At least 2 feet of snow has fallen at Grand Mesa since last Saturday. The new snow is settling into a slab around 40 cm thick. The snow surface is fist hard powder snow, but as you go deeper the new snow gets progressively more consolidated and by the time we get to the 12.13 interface this slab is 1F+ hard. This new snow has overloaded buried weak layers near the ground and snowpack tests showed these layers to be reactive and conducive to propagation. ECTP 13 SC, ECT14 SC. Many small loose snow avalanches were observed along and near the road.
