Great day climbing south face of Mt weed. Very good refreeze and 10-20 cm crust made skin travel quick. Tricky route finding below treeline but once in the Avalanche path its a straight shot up.

Snowpack

Solid overnight refreeze created good travel. Minimal HS at road on W-ly aspect. Enough to skin on. Above 2400m 5 cm wind affected snow that did not bond well to the crust, ski crampons are essential to avoid constant frustration. Very good coverage overall from summit to road considering sun exposure. Below 2300m on the descent around 2 pm, crust breaking rapidly and acting very isothermal.

Avalanche

Cross loaded Pockets of WSL on both sides of the couliour, exposed crust breaks continuity. Fairly touchy on top of the MFcr, easy to clean out. Best skiing was on the debris. Evidence of old loose wet activity on S-ly aspects up to sz2. Nothing from our day out.
