Avalanche

We were skiing mellow trees off the W side of Grassy South on the way back to the car. Skier 1 came out of the trees above a short steep slope above the uptrack, and called back to skier 2 to stay left to avoid the hazard. Skier 2 did not hear the communication and skied onto the slope, triggering the avalanche which ran below him. It was about 20 m wide and ran about 30 m, piling up on the flat uptrack below. From below the crown looked to be about 60 cm, most likely running on the mid-Jan surface hoar on crust.
