Toured to the top of Mammoth Head. As forecast, a notable temperature inversion had mild temperatures above, however strong winds kept surfaces cool. Observed a spotty solar crust below ~1650m on sparsely treed slopes. Surface hoar present in sheltered terrain, and rime knocked loose from trees onto upper slopes may be a consideration after the next snowfall. Summit slopes were significantly wind affected but soft snow remained in the trees.
